BEVERLY, Mass., December 9, 2009 – Altova® ( http://www.altova.com ) creator of XMLSpy®, the industry leading XML editor announces the availability of Altova MapForce 2010. Altova’s data mapping tool is available as a standalone product or as part of the Altova MissionKit®, an integrated suite of XML, database, and UML tools. MapForce 2010 provides users with new functionality for processing data to and from multiple files and for using input or output file names as parameters. Additionally, the release of MapForce 2010 supports the use of <xsi:type> within XML documents, WSDL 2.0, automatic validation of EDI files in generated code, and more.
“Companies today are looking for cost-effective and efficient software tools that can move or transform data from any input format into any output format, work with database, XML, and EDI data, apply conversion functions or invoke web services, and support new important data standards such as HL7 and XBRL. What’s even better is if that solution is available in one, easy-to-use tool,” said Alexander Falk, President and CEO for Altova. “With the release of MapForce 2010 we’ve responded to our customers’ requests as well as industry feedback by adding a host of new features that give users the ability to map, convert, and integrate their data seamlessly. With enhanced support for mapping XML, databases, flat files, EDI, Excel 2007, XBRL, and even Web services data, MapForce 2010 is uniquely equipped to meet customers’ diverse data integration requirements.”
Altova MapForce 2010 includes the following new features:
* Support for Mapping Data From / Into Multiple Files – MapForce 2010 users can now process data from or into multiple files, making it easy to consolidate file collections by aggregating data from a directory into one file or output data from one file to many. Multiple file names can be specified through the use of wildcard characters (e.g., ? or *), through a database table, auto-number sequences, or through other methods.
* Using Input / Output Files Names as Parameters – As a complement to the new data mapping functionality above, MapForce 2010 now supports the use of input or output file names as parameters. This enables users to generate dynamic mappings in which the information is defined at run-time.
* Support for xsi:type in XML Schema – MapForce 2010 supports the use of <xsi:type> within XML documents. This often requested feature gives users increased flexibility in their XML data mappings. The <xsi:type> is an attribute that can be used in any XML instance to explicitly select an element's type, for example if the corresponding schema specifies an abstract type only.
* Extended EDI Integration – Support for working with EDI files has been extended in MapForce 2010 with EDI file validation in generated code and support for three additional EDIFACT messages. MapForce users can now validate the EDI output of mappings not just within MapForce but also within the generated code. This helps users maintain the integrity of their infrastructure by ensuring that only valid EDI messages are processed. In Version 2010, MapForce has also added support for three new EDIFACT messages – CONTRL, AUTACK, and KEYMAN.
* Support for WSDL 2.0 – For users building and connecting to Web services, MapForce 2010 now supports WSDL 2.0 in addition to WSDL 1.1. MapForce automatically recognizes the syntax of WSDL 2.0 documents and applies appropriate processing rules. It can automatically detect whether the Web service is based on WSDL 1.1 or 2.0, and components will be depicted accordingly in the design interface.
