Visible Systems is a leading provider of automated modeling tools for developing complex software and information systems. All previous releases of Visible Analyst include integrated modeling capabilities including: Yourdon, Gane & Sarson, IDEF1X, Bachman, Information Engineering, UML, and BPMN for top-down and bottom-up development efforts. Beyond the standard modeling methods and techniques, the new edition of the Visible Analyst allows users to create customized models of integrated diagrams. Opening up the modeling capabilities in Visible Analyst allows greater flexibility for an organization to customize the tool to fit internal methodology needs.

New modeling templates are automatically integrated with the standard modeling methods supported within the tool. Each new symbol template consists of a set of user defined symbols and a default selection of line styles. Each symbol (user defined object) created is added to the integrated central repository allowing for database management and data definition capabilities. The repository functions interactively with the diagramming to automatically create an organized database of project information for each project as it is developed. The project's data repository is automatically updated and maintained during all work sessions, and can be accessed at any time to add, delete, edit, review entries, or print customized reports.

The purpose of the custom modeling facility is to allow new visual modeling methods and techniques to be added as needed as an organization's methodology requirements change. Each new symbol template added is fully integrated with the standard diagramming templates. All saved symbol templates become defaults for future reuse. The flexibility we have designed into this edition will give an organization all of the modeling flexibility it will ever need. The first custom template added to the new edition is called Network allowing users to define a complete network topology.

Some of the key features included with the custom symbols include:
* Customizable Meta-data Repository: Classifies meta-data in four categories: ownership, descriptive characteristics, rules and policies, and physical characteristics.
* Cross-model integration: Models can be interlinked in the data repository, or can link to external specifications through repository entries using a hyperlink facility.
* Customized Reporting: Reports are created by selecting the various criteria in the reports dialog box. The content may be defined by a wide variety of selections that can be saved for reuse.
* Traceability: All modeling allows for full traceability analysis across customized project data, objects and processes. It gives Business and Enterprise Architects, Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, Application Developers, Regulatory Compliance Officers and Data Warehouse Analysts the ability to dynamically model custom processes and dynamically see these processes as the underlying meta-data changes.
* Strategic Planning: In order to track the software development process from the planning stages through analysis, design, and implementation, Visible Analyst gives allows you to link planning statements to model objects to help you determine the significance of each object and to ensure that each object is essential in supporting the organization's requirements.
* Corporate Governance: Visible Systems offers an add-on tool for Visible Analyst called Polaris for analyzing, tracing, prioritizing and controlling change throughout a project's life-cycle for all relevant stakeholders.

At the heart of the new release is the ability to use all representations in modeling a process and assigning attribute data unique to those representations. According to Michael Cesino, President of Visible Systems, "Every company wants consistent information throughout their organization so that they can see trend lines and analyze Big Data. With custom symbols, users are able to graphically represent a wide range of information. Coupled with an intelligent, integrated repository; users are better able to conceptualize trends, analyze models and make more informed decisions about the broader design picture."
