Telerik, an end-to-end provider of application development tools and solutions for building and analyzing cross-platform and mobile applications, today announced the latest release of its leading testing solution, Test Studio. As part of today’s release, Telerik is focusing on ease-of-use, flexibility and affordability with features such as cross-browser test recording, subscription-based pricing and additional purchasing options, as well as load testing of web services and mobile traffic. With Telerik Test Studio R2, Telerik is focused on aiding multiple constituents – developers, quality assurance professionals and test management.

Newly available in Telerik Test Studio:
* Subscription-based pricing: Test automation is capital-intensive imposing barriers to entry for SMBs. SaaS has alleviated some of that strain, but comes with its own issues – data security, reliability and performance. Test Studio is the first testing solution to offer flexible, affordable subscription options without compromise. It mitigates heavy upfront investment and empowers customers to be flexible when purchasing additional licenses, services or switching from one type of product to another.
* Cross-browser testing capabilities: Visitors access web applications by various browsers that interact with web apps in different ways, causing custom controls to behave inconsistently. Test Studio now comes equipped with cross-browser compatibility, enabling testers to record and playback tests in different browsers out of the box. It helps to align the user experience in every possible browser and version for better test coverage and more accurate test results.
* Load testing of web services, UI and mobile: Web Services with high response time and poor performance can lead to unsatisfied users. Telerik Test Studio provides a better picture of system performance across its layers by load testing the system’s UI and web services. Real world simulation of user load against a site or a web service enables QA to find out how web apps scale when hit by many users. With mobile load testing, profiles can be created that represent various device traffic sources. Combined, multifaceted load testing expedites quality of apps across systems.

In addition to the features above, the latest release of Telerik Test Studio comes equipped with distributed test scheduling and execution, speeding the testing cycle for better test coverage by mixing functional, load and performance tests in a single test list. Also available in Test Studio are advanced testing solutions for rich HTML5 applications. Unlike most tools that provide a baseline of HTML5 tags, Telerik Test Studio has added more support out-of-the-box, for a larger array of tags.

“Proper testing involves much more than traditional QA. It involves multiple layers of the development organization – developers, line of business, test management, and more. Telerik Test Studio is designed to offer effective solutions for every level of the testing cycle with features, reporting, scheduling and pricing to accommodate a myriad of need,” said Christopher Eyhorn, EVP of ALM tools, Telerik. “With this release, Telerik is not only freeing capital with a subscription-based pricing model, but we’re also enabling those involved in the application development process to work smarter and more productively.”

Telerik Test Studio R2 is available immediately.
