Tokutek has announced TokuDB v7.5 with new read-free replication, multi-directories hot backup, and increased use of bulk fetch capabilities that improve the speed and scalability of MySQL and MariaDB and make them even more attractive big data stores.

TokuDB is driven by Fractal Tree indexing, a modern big data database indexing scheme invented by Tokutek. It performs up to two orders of magnitude faster than the traditional B-tree technology found in nearly all RDBMS systems. It addresses the difficult, costly challenge of delivering high-volume and high velocity ingestion (write-intensive) activity at the same time as analytic (read-intensive) work in real time. With TokuDB v7.5, MySQL and MariaDB users realize the following new benefits:
* Read Free Replication - Enables replication slaves to be configured to process the binary logs with virtually no read IO, which significantly accelerates the replication process.
* Hot Backup Now Supports Multiple Directories (Enterprise Edition) - Adds the capability to backup differing tokudb_data_dir, tokudb_log_dir, and binary log folder.
* Increased Usage of Bulk Fetch - Bringing the same performance enhancement to more complex SELECT statements as well as DELETE statements, this new capability is much faster than retrieving a row at a time.
* Updated MySQL and MariaDB - TokuDB v7.5 ships on MySQL 5.5.39 and MariaDB 5.5.39.

"With TokuDB 7.5, Tokutek continues to deliver market-leading performance capabilities for both MySQL and MariaDB," said Dave Rosenlund, vice president of marketing at Tokutek. "New features such as read-free replication, multi-directories hot backup, and increased use of bulk fetch overcome existing MySQL limitations by delivering faster, more scalable big data processing capabilities." TokuDB continues to be the ideal choice for high-volume database applications that require fast response time and that must simultaneously store and query large volumes of rapidly arriving data. These include social networking applications, metadata management, cloud enablement platforms, machine data and logfile processing, and eCommerce personalization. TokuDB is fully compatible with MySQL and MariaDB.
