ZeroTurnaround has announced the release of Optimizer for Eclipse, a free Eclipse plugin that detects and fixes common configuration issues faced by developers using the Eclipse Integrated Development Environment (IDE) to build software.

Eclipse is the most widely used IDE by Java developers around the world, but performance hiccups and configuration issues can, over time, slow the development environment down significantly, causing coding frustration and hindering developer productivity. As a company dedicated to providing Java developers with the tools and technologies to create higher-quality code, faster and with less downtime, ZeroTurnaround set out to correct this.

"What Java developer hasn't, at some point in time, thought, 'Wow, my Eclipse is really slow today,'" said Jevgeni Kabanov, Founder and CEO of ZeroTurnaround. "We wanted to make coding in Eclipse more enjoyable by taking away the developer frustrations of a slow environment. We like to think of Optimizer for Eclipse as a jetpack for your Eclipse environment."

Optimizer for Eclipse evaluates the users' environment by performing checks on key configuration issues that can negatively impact the IDE user experience. Users can then choose which items they wish to fix and allow the plugin to automatically speed up their Eclipse environment. Common configuration issues include:
* Insufficient memory allocation
* Class verification overhead
* Excessive indexes and history
* Obsolete or slow JDK
* Eclipse being out of date
* Lengthy build and redeploy times

"We are delighted to have ZeroTurnaround contribute to the Eclipse ecosystem, bringing its robust Java knowledge to the community and making it easier for our users to get the most out of their Eclipse IDE experience with Optimizer for Eclipse," shared Mike Milinkovich, Executive Director of the Eclipse Foundation.
