Piston Cloud Computing Inc. and ActiveState Software Inc. have announced a partnership to deliver a complete solution that enables agile development teams to easily stand up a production-ready private cloud environment. Using Piston with ActiveState's Stackato offers powerful Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) capabilities requiring minimal cost or operations expertise.
Piston provides a turn-key infrastructure management and automation layer, while Stackato provides a platform to manage, develop and deploy software faster and more effectively. With the combined power of Piston and Stackato, customers can deploy a production-ready IaaS + PaaS stack in a single day.

Stackato, based on the Cloud Foundry and Docker open source projects, allows agile enterprises to develop and deploy software solutions faster than ever before and manage them more effectively. Stackato provides development teams with built-in languages, frameworks and services on one single cloud application platform, while providing enterprise-level security and world-class support. In combination with Piston CloudOS, enterprises now have a complete solution to meet the current and emerging needs of enterprise IT including application lifecycle management, accelerated deployment, and a hybrid cloud strategy.

"ActiveState is excited to partner with Piston and provide customers with a turnkey private cloud solution, bringing together the best of today's technologies -- Cloud Foundry and OpenStack," said ActiveState CEO Bart Copeland. "Customers will not only have access to a scalable PaaS environment enabling easy deployment of web and mobile apps, a flexible IaaS solution ideal for continuous development and delivery but they'll be able to deploy the entire environment and be up and running in less than a day."

Once your Piston CloudOS and Stackato environment is running, agile software development teams can access built-in languages, frameworks, and services on a single cloud application platform. This flexibility allows for rapid updates to web software, and stable and scalable configurations that simplify the pre-cloud configuration process.

ActiveState and Piston benefits include:
* A scalable PaaS runtime environment extensible to modern frameworks and languages for launching and scaling web and mobile apps
* Easy install -- deploy the entire environment in less than a day
* Built-in high availability and multiple layers of fault tolerance
* Applications and infrastructure scaling, management, and secure automation
* Lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) than AWS, VMware, or DIY solutions
